Giving thanks to God is a blessed way to strengthen our relationship with Him. When we offer God our thanks, we are acknowledging Him: We are acknowledging that He exists, that He is at work in our lives and that His work is good.
It might seem simple, but Romans 1 shows us how important acknowledging God is. There we learn that when people who knew God “did not honor him as God or give thanks to him,” their minds were darkened. “And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done” (Romans 1:21, 28, ESV).
Thanksgiving places us in the right posture before God — He is our God and He deserves our acknowledgment and thanks, not just during November but each moment of each day of our lives.
“Through Jesus we should always bring God a sacrifice of praise, that is, words that acknowledge him.” Hebrews 13:16 GWT.
