Amazing Grace. I imagine everyone reading this has heard that song, but I wonder how many people have experienced the truth of God’s amazing grace. I think when we begin to understand and accept that grace, our lives have to change. I know the more I learn of God’s grace, the more I love Him, and it’s a love that I want to share.
It’s funny how we can learn truths that we’ve known all our lives. Years ago, I was feeling upset with myself because of some poor decisions I had made. I expressed my frustration to my mom, who didn’t say much at first, but later came and told me a story about how once she felt like she had made a bad decision — a selfish decision — but sometime later God used that decision to bring Him glory. Maybe she had made the wrong choice — I’m not sure how she feels about that now — but regardless, when she turned the decision over to God, He was able to bring good from the situation.
What a beautiful message! In God’s hands, even my failures can be turned into triumphs! I don’t have to feel worthless when I make a mistake. I can ask God to forgive me, and He can still use me. No matter how I fail Him. His grace abounds.
“Praise be to God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. … In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.” Ephesians 1:3,7 NIV. (Read verses 3-14)
