Letting go of our children is so very hard.
Sometimes, I want to hold them close forever. I want to tell them that nothing in life is more important than family. I want them to build their lives around me.
And not just for me. But because sometimes I believe it’s what’s best for them. I want to be there for them. I want to support them. I want them to have the love I had when my mom was here with me.
But then sometimes, I go to church and we sing: “There’s nothing better than you. There’s nothing better than You. Lord, there’s nothing, nothing is better than you.”
And I remember — that’s the truth my kids need. That’s the truth I want to share with them. God is most important, and the best life is the life built on Him.
Letting go is still hard, but thank God for pointing me back — time and time again — to Him.
“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.” Ephesians 1:9-12
