It is significant I am telling this story while I am an Interim Pastor. That’s the role I had when I met Ruth.

I was serving at Calvary Baptist Church in Dexter MO. Sunday night church finished a little early one evening (a short sermon?), and I decided to drive to my home church, South Side Baptist, in Cape Girardeau MO, to join the youth group there for pizza.

I entered the church at the end of the service. In about the third pew of the auditorium, I saw her. I still remember the moment. It wasn’t love at first sight for either of us, but the interest on my part was immediate.

It is appropriate that Ruth and I met in church. Our lives have always been intertwined with local churches. In my next post, I will tell how I proposed to her.
